Milpitas kicks off holiday season Dec. 5 with two events

Holiday happenings

Milpitas is set to kick off the holiday season on Friday, Dec. 5, with Cookies with Santa and the city’s annual tree-lighting ceremony.

For the former event, Santa will be on hand for two snack times, 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m., at the Milpitas Community Center, 457 E. Calaveras Blvd. Families can make holiday-themed crafts before posing for a photo op with the jolly old elf.

Admission is $11; an $18 ticket comes with a cookie decorating kit. For tickets, visit cityofmilpitas.simpletix.com.

Santa will also be on hand for photo ops at the tree-lighting ceremony, set for 7-9 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza, adjacent to the community center. The free event also features a performance by the Milpitas Community Concert Band.

For more information, call 408-586-3225 or email specialevents@milpitas.gov.

Fun with Art

The Milpitas Library is hosting the last of five “Fun with Art” sessions on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Led by First5 Santa Clara County partners from the Josephine Guerrero Family Resource Center (FRC) in Milpitas, this program is geared for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. FRC staff will read a book, lead a craft activity based on the book and then share resources provided at the center.

Registration is not required, but space is limited.
