Moment thug mum batters woman with hammer in love triangle attack – just days before she plotted ex-husband’s murder

THIS is the moment a thug mum battered a woman with a hammer in a love triangle attack – just days before she plotted her ex’s murder.

Coleen Campbell teamed up with three other yobs to batter the victim in the street in Tameside, Greater Manchester.

Just days later, she helped plot the brutal murder of her gangster ex-husband Thomas Campbell.

Campbell, 38, was jailed for 13 years last February after she was convicted of manslaughter.

The mum was hauled before the courts again for her role in the hammer attack alongside Hannah Derbyshire, 27, and Chloe Bamford, 30, and Simon Bowden, 38.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard the savage attack took place on June 29, 2022, after Derbyshire became embroiled in a love triangle with the victim.

Campbell was driving a VW Tiguan when the thugs came across the woman as she walked down the street.

Shocking CCTV showed Derbyshire “raining down blows and kicks” on the victim.

Bowden – armed with a 2ft-long drill bit – then pulled a balaclava down over his face and joined the attack.

Killer Campbell can then be seen striking the victim multiple times with a hammer – causing the defenceless woman to fall to the ground.

The three female attackers surrounded her and continued to kick and hit her during the 90-second horror.

They then scrambled back into the car and fled the scene as Campbell stole the victim’s handbag.

This was later found in her home when police searched it.

All four thugs pleaded guilty to violent disorder, while Campbell also admitted theft.

Campbell and Bowden were sentenced to 18 months each, while Derbyshire and Bamford were both handed suspended prison sentences.

Just one week after the attack, Thomas Campbell, 38, was ambushed by three men at the front door of his home in Mossley, Tameside.

He was then dragged inside and tortured to death in a two-hour “extraordinary act of barbarism”.

Campbell shared intelligence of Thomas’ whereabouts to his killers.

The mum-of-four was captured on CCTV in her pink pyjamas chatting to one man for 25 minutes in her garden just hours before the savage attack.

During this time, Campbell divulged key information about Thomas – including details of his van’s registration plate and his house number.

A tracking device was also placed on his car, which was used to conduct reconnaissance missions to the dad’s home.

On July 2 last year, three men burst out of a Vauxhall Combo van parked on the drive of an unoccupied house.

They were seen shoving Thomas into his home while he desperately screamed.

Blood splattered the walls of his smart new-build home as he was bound and brutalised while being tortured for two hours.

Thomas was stabbed, punched and stamped on before boiling water was poured on his buttocks.

He had been dragged around the house as the attackers took as much money or drugs as they could get their hands on.

Thomas was then left to die in the hallway before being discovered the following day by a neighbour.

The dad suffered 61 separate injuries during the brutal attack.

Campbell was jailed for 13 years after being convicted of manslaughter but cleared of murder.

Steven was caged for at least 37 years for murder while Cleworth was handed a minimum term of 12 years for manslaughter.

A third man accused of murder is set to go on trial this year.
