Mookie Betts, his wife Brianna, and family joined volunteers giving turkeys to 750 families

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation in partnership with Brotherhood Crusade and Dodgers infielder and four-time World Series champion Mookie Betts’ 5050 Foundation, hosted its annual Thanksgiving grab-and-go drive-thru at Algin Sutton Recreation Center in South Los Angeles on Thursday.

Mookie Betts, his wife Brianna, and family, joined volunteers to give 750 families turkeys, Thanksgiving fixings, gift cards and basic essentials to ensure they could enjoy a holiday meal. Betts said on Thursday, “This is the time of year when joy is always wanted, and anytime I can bring smiles to people’s faces, whether through bringing meals or creating memories, it’s special for us. Whatever the community needs, whether it’s food or clothes or shelter, whatever it is, we do our part in giving back, and this means the world to us.”

Nichol Whiteman, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s CEO, said, “We love the annual turkey giveaway at Algin Sutton Recreation Center. It’s a fantastic location because it’s home to our first and our 50th Dodgers Dreamfields, and it’s a community that we serve here in South Los Angeles all year long. “

Charisse Bremond-Weaver, Brotherhood Crusade president and CEO, added, “Thanksgiving is the time that we think of family. Brotherhood Crusade always says we want to serve with love and care and to align our brand with the Dodgers Foundation, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
