On the anniversary of his death, the ‘devastated’ family of a man killed in a London car park have asked for witnesses to step forward.

Hanif Redwood, 32, was at a party in Barking, east London, before he was shot dead in the early hours of October 13 last year.

He was ambushed at around 4.33am and died outside the Factory 15 venue despite paramedics fighting to save him.

A £20,000 reward is now being offered to witnesses, while Hanif’s mother has appealed to anyone with information to contact detectives.

She said the family are ‘utterly speechless and still at a loss one year, and prayed that they could ‘get closure and justice’ for her son.

In the new appeal, Hanif’s mother said: ‘Anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area, or who may have information that could assist with the investigation, please come forward. Even the smallest detail could be crucial in helping us understand what happened.’

The family previously appealed for information in February this year and said he was a ‘hardworking and loving father of two’.

An investigation by the Met resulted in a number of arrests, including two men taken into custody on October 16 just days after Hanif’s death, but all suspects have been released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rodgers said: ‘Hanif was an innocent member of the public whose life was tragically taken far too soon.’

Hanif was not the intended target of the shooter, according to police.

Detectives now hope that the significant reward will bring out witnesses to unlock the case while they continue to support the Redwood family.

‘While we have made progress with our investigation, we still need those who know what happened to come forward,’ said Detective Inspector Emma Sharp.

She added: ‘Someone must have seen or heard something, they must know why this shooting took place. No piece of information is too small, it could be the crucial clue that leads us to identify Hanif’s murderer.

‘We hope the reward of up to £20,000 will encourage anyone with information about this incident to come forward and help the investigation.’
