Motorcyclist dies in Antioch crash

ANTIOCH — A 43-year-old motorcyclist died in a solo crash Monday morning, police said.

The name of the man, an Antioch resident, was not immediately released pending notification of his family.

San Jose: Man dies after being hit by car in 17th pedestrian death of 2024

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. in the 4300 block of Hillcrest Avenue.

Officers found the man on the pavement, suffering from major injuries and unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Traffic accident investigators took over the investigation. Police said in a news release that based on preliminary information, it was determined the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Hillcrest Avenue at a high rate of speed and collided with the sidewalk, where he was ejected from the motorcycle onto the pavement.

Police have not said if he was wearing a helmet.
