Motorist flees, causes multiple crashes in fatal Lake View hit-and-run

A impaired motorist who fatally slammed into a 25-year-old pedestrian before fleeing, crashing into a vehicle causing a chain-reaction crash and another chase that ended when he plowed into a tree Saturday has been charged, police said. f

Miroslaw Ciszek, 34, was arrested Sunday and charged with one felony count of aggravated DUI causing accident or death and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death, Chicago police said. He was expected to appear for a detention hearing Tuesday.

About four hours earlier, Sarah Milcarek, 25, was walking between two parked cars in the 1400 block of Irving Park Road around 9:20 p.m. when Ciszek allegedly struck her with the car he was driving, police said.

Ciszek then allegedly fled west and crashed into an SUV, which then hit a black sedan. The driver of the SUV tried to detain him, but he got back into his car and fled again before crashing into a tree, according to police.

Ciszek then got out of the car and ran off, then entering a building in the 4000 block of North Ashland Avenue, police said.

Milcarek, of Missiouri, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Ciszek is expected to appear for a detention hearing Tuesday.
