A girl was killed in Islip, a rural Oxfordshire village

Police have launched a manhunt after the body of a girl was discovered at a home in Oxfordshire.

A murder investigation has been launched after emergency services rushed to Middle Street in Islip on Tuesday.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Neighbours reported ten police cars and ambulances rushing to the scene in the middle of the quiet village.

Detectives have sealed off the house with officers saying there will be an increased police presence in the area.

Senior investigating officer DCI Sally Spencer said: ‘Firstly, I would like to share our condolences with the family of the girl who very sadly has died today.

‘We have launched a homicide investigation, but we are still in the early stages and will provide more details as soon as we are able to.

‘We understand this investigation will be concerning for the community, but we believe this incident to be contained and are not aware of any threat to the wider public at this time.’

Islip has a population of less than 700 people, according to the latest census and lies just five miles north of Oxford.
