It’s understandable that Aaron Rodgers would want to keep his romantic life private, given the intense tabloid attention he faced for his past romances with high-profile women like Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley.
But Rodgers’ level of secrecy over his purported new wife has sparked intrigue, according to the Daily Mail. Teammates and people close to him say they have not met the bride, leaving fans to wonder if she’s real, the Daily Mail continued.
“She’s like a phantom,” the wife of one of Rodgers’ Pittsburgh Steelers teammates told the Daily Mail. “We all want to meet her, to invite her out, get to know her. But we haven’t met her yet. We don’t even know who she is.”
Rodgers told reporters at Steelers training camp in June that he was married, but the 41-year-old was otherwise silent on details. His wife’s name also is not known to teammates or to family members — though the Chico-reared NFL star is famously estranged from his parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers, the Daily Mail reported.
The ex-quarterback for the Green Bay Packers also does not bring up his wife in casual conservation, a former teammate said. And, professionally, Rodgers has made no arrangements with the Steelers to have his wife seated in special sections of stadiums for his games — accommodations that are usually made other players’ wives and girlfriends, the Daily Mail said.
“I’m dying to meet her,” the teammate’s wife told the Daily Mail. “But she could be sitting somewhere in the stadium and I’d have no idea. She could walk right up to me and I wouldn’t know who she was.”
Rodgers talked a little bit more about his wife in a July 26 interview with Sports Illustrated. “I’ve got the most incredible wife,” he said. “I just really love her and I’m so grateful to have her by my side at the end. When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you could do anything.”
In a December 2024 conversation on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers casually dropped the news that he was dating someone named Brittani, who was “a private person.” Rodgers also bristled at the idea that he should have to say anything more about her.
“I’m with somebody who’s private, who doesn’t want to be in the public eye, didn’t sign up to be a celebrity — and because I do things in private, because I want my personal life to be private, now I’m weird” Rodgers said. “My private life is my private life — and it’s going to stay that way.”
Then in April, Rodgers revealed on the McAfee show that he was “in a different phase of my life: I’m in a serious relationship.” But he did not mention Brittani by name in the interview, and it’s not known if she’s the one he married, according to the Daily Mail. In May, Rodgers was spotted at the Kentucky Derby, wearing a black ring on the finger where he would traditionally sport a wedding band, the Daily Mail said. Incidentally, black wedding bands, made of black zirconium or other metals, are considered to be “manly” and “the Batman of wedding bands,” claims an online jeweler that makes them.
A family member who is estranged from Rodgers told the Daily Mail: “I get being secretive, but come on. At this point, it feels like he’s deliberately keeping her secret from even the people who love him the most.”
“All anyone wants is for Aaron to be happy, so if he’s happy with her, we’d love to meet her,” the family member said. “I don’t understand the cloak and dagger part of it all.”
