A Nevada man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after investigators say he catfished a 15-year-old Littleton girl through Snapchat, picked her up in Colorado and sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Tyler Monson pretended to be a 16-year-old from Golden and exchanged nude photos with the girl in late December and early January, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada.
Monson sent the girl $2,000 over Venmo and they agreed to meet in person.
After telling the girl he was actually 27 years old, he showed her a loaded gun and refused to take her back home, according to an arrest affidavit.
Monson, who is from Winnemucca, Nevada, pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
