The NFL fined the Ravens $100,000 for giving quarterback Lamar Jackson the wrong injury designation a week ago leading up to the Bears game, a source said Friday.
The Ravens said Friday that the two-time MVP was a full participant in practice and ruled him questionable for Sunday’s game. The next day, however, the Ravens said that Jackson should have been called limited because he did not participate in his usual practice routine. The Ravens also ruled him out for the Bears game.
Coach John Harbaugh said after the Ravens’ 30-16 win against the Bears — quarterbacked by Tyler Huntley — that the team had made “an honest mistake” and that there was “no advantage” to be had by giving the wrong designation. The league seemingly agreeing, not finding that there was intent to deceive the Bears. Had the league found that there had been, it could have docked the Ravens draft picks or more money, or both.
Jackson returned from his hamstring injury Thursday night after missing three games and beat the Dolphins in Miami. The Bears play the Bengals on Sunday.
