Niners rule out edge rusher Nick Bosa for Bears game

On Saturday, the 49ers ruled out star defensive end Nick Bosa for Sunday’s Bears game.

Bosa, who has hip and oblique injuries, was ruled doubtful on Friday. The 49ers are already without running back Christian McCaffrey, who went on injured reserve with a knee injury, and his backup Jordan Mason, who has an ankle problem. Left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) linebacker Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) and safety George Odum were all ruled out Friday, too.

On Saturday, the 49ers put Mason and Odum on IR and promoted standout safety Talanoa Hufanga from it.

Bosa has seven sacks in 10 games this season. His previous three seasons were among the best in the sport. He had a league-high 18 ½ sacks in 2022 and 44 ½ sacks, total, from 2021-23.

The Bears made two roster moves of their own Saturday, promoting safety Adrian Colbert and running back Darrynton Evans from the practice squad to the active roster.
