A top pollster who turned out to be more accurate than the ‘Nostradamus’ of US elections has questioned President Joe Biden’s competence and called on him to resign.
With just two months until President-elect Donald Trump returns to the White House, Biden has shocked the world by letting Ukraine to use US long-range missiles to strike inside of Russia.
The sudden escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war, after Biden long instructed Kiev to hold back, has sparked accusations that the lame duck president is allowing World War 3 to start ahead of Trump entering office.
Pollster Nate Silver, whose gut feeling was correct in predicting Trump would defeat Vice President Kamala Harris, on Wednesday expressed concern over the 82-year-old president’s competence.

‘Is there any particular reason to assume Biden is competent to be president right now? It’s a very difficult job. It’s a dangerous world,’ wrote Silver on X (formerly Twitter).
‘Extremely high-stakes decisions in Ukraine. He should resign and let Harris serve out the last 2 months.’
Silver shared a Washington Post story on Biden’s visit to the Amazon rainforest over the weekend, during which he answered nearly no questions and spoke little publicly.

The pollster who founded FiveThirtyEight is regarded as the leading pollster in America. His model showed the 2024 presidential race between Trump and Harris extremely close, and he repeatedly cautioned people against relying on his gut prediction or their own.
By contrast, historian and American University professor Allan Lichtman in early September picked Harris to win the election, based on his 13 keys to the White House that are not based on polls or pundits.
Lichtman refused to change his prediction in the weeks leading up to the election – but in the aftermath has admitted that he may have to reevaluate his model.

Silver had previously suggested that Biden should be replaced.
In July after Biden bombed an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Silver said there was ‘something is clearly wrong here’.
‘The most generous way to put it is that he doesn’t seem in command, and that’s an extremely hard sell when you’re Commander in Chief,’ the election guru said at the time.
