Old courthouse building burns in LA’s Glassell Park neighborhood

Sixteen fire companies were called Saturday to a fire in an old courthouse building at the 1100 block of North San Fernando Road in Los Angeles’s Glassell Park neighborhood, the LA Fire Department said.

The fire reported at 5:55 p.m. sent up a plume of smoke in the area east of the 5 Freeway and north of the 110 Freeway. The fire was knocked down by 6:37 p.m., LAFD said.

Information on what caused the fire in the one-story structure — previously occupied by a courthouse — wasn’t immediately available. The fire destroyed the building, the fire department said.

No injuries were reported.
