Pasadena’s iPic Theater officially closes its doors

The credits have rolled for iPic Pasadena, which permanently closed this week.

The theater, located at 42 Miller Alley in Old Pasadena, announced on social media that it will cease operations on Wednesday, June 3, as part of a broader restructuring effort by the Florida-based company.

“As part of our restructuring, IPIC Theaters has made the difficult decision to close our Pasadena location on Wednesday, June 3, 2026,” the company said in a statement. “It has been an honor to serve our guests and loyalty members, and we are incredibly grateful for your patronage.”

According to the theater’s online schedule, the final screening at the Pasadena location is set for 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The closure follows the company’s recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. In May, iPic announced plans to pursue a court-supervised sale process while continuing operations during the restructuring.

“We are committed to continuing our business operations with minimal impact throughout the process and will endeavor to serve our customers with the high standard of care they have come to expect from us,” CEO Patrick Quinn said in a statement at the time.

The company previously issued Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, notices indicating that both its Pasadena and Westwood locations would close, affecting nearly 200 employees in Los Angeles County.

Headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, iPic operates luxury theaters that pair movie screenings with in-seat dining and beverage service. The company previously filed for bankruptcy in 2019 and cited ongoing industry challenges, including declining theater attendance and increased competition from at-home streaming platforms.

The Pasadena closure comes amid continued struggles for movie theaters nationwide. In recent months, several Southern California theater locations have shuttered as operators continue to grapple with post-pandemic audience habits and softer box office revenues.
