Pedestrian killed after being stuck by 2 vehicles on 405 Freeway in Van Nuys

A 35-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by an SUV and another vehicle on the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys on Wednesday evening, Nov. 26, authorities said.

The crash, which occurred north of Victory Boulevard at around 10:20 p.m., led the California Highway Patrol to shut down four southbound lanes for three hours.

The pedestrian was crossing traffic lanes when he was hit, according to a preliminary investigation by the CHP. It was not known why he was on the freeway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the vehicles that hit the man was a 2025 Mazda CX-90. The other vehicle description was unknown, according to a news release.

The crash is under investigation. No additional information was available on Thursday.
