OAKLAND — A woman died Thursday morning from injuries suffered when she was struck by a box truck while crossing a downtown street, authorities said.
Authorities were trying to confirm her name. She was believed to be in her 80s and an Oakland resident, police said.
The collision happened about 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Broadway and Eighth Street, a block from police headquarters.
Police said the woman was in a marked crosswalk walking westbound across Broadway when she was struck by a box truck making a turn from westbound Eighth Street onto southbound Broadway.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she later died.
