A Gold Rush-era home, documented as Alameda’s oldest, is for sale for $1.395 million.

The home was built in 1854, just four years after California became a state and fewer than 500 people lived on the island, according to the Alameda Historical Society.
The six-bedroom, five-bath Webster Home has been well preserved and touts a vintage exterior. It also has wood floors, a fireplace with a Victorian-style insert, a formal living room and a detached studio with a full bath, among many other amenities.
Kate McCaffrey with Compass is the listing agent.
The home was originally shipped from the East Coast by boat years before the Panama Canal existed, according to historians.
