Photos: At Rose Hills in Whittier, ‘Field of Healing’ remembers the 9/11 dead, one flag at a time

The healing continues, even now.

As nation remembers Sept. 11, 2001, Rose Hills Memorial Park made its own mark on Sunday, Sept. 10, on the tapestry of symbols across Southern California commemorating the day 22 years ago when terrorists struck and killed thousands.

At the Whittier cemetery, the community honored those lives with 2,977 flags in its Field of Healing, where visitors had a chance to honor the lost, including first responders, while remembering the living impacted by that day.

The event came on a Sunday, the day before the nation en masse will commence with 9/11 tributes. Such tributes will dot Southern California as well, as the nation still remembers.

Field of Healing will continue to be on display until Sept. 20.
