Jennifer and Dennis Moxon place a yellow rose for their son, Sgt. Douglas Lee Moxon, at the base of the new Gold Star Families Memorial in North Ogden on Saturday. The memorial, the first of its kind in Utah, was created through donations, according to the organizations involved including the city of North Ogden, Follow the Flag and the Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation. The memorial was dedicated on Saturday. “Our organization and its members are extremely grateful for all those who have donated the time, labor and funding to make this beautiful monument a reality as we seek to honor all those who have lost a loved one in our service,” organizers said in a statement.
