PITTSBURG — Police are investigating a double-shooting Saturday evening, sparked by a reported physical altercation, that left one male juvenile dead and another wounded.
Police began receiving calls around 7:19 p.m. that a shooting had taken place on Belle Harbor Circle, a residential street off Harbor Street and north of Highway 4, according to a Pittsburg police news release.
Responding officers initially found one young male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They provided life-saving aid until emergency medical personnel arrived to transport him to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon, the news release said.
A short distance away, officers found the second youth, who also had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts to provide emergency medical care, he died from his injuries at the scene.
Detectives have so far learned that the shooting was sparked by an altercation that happened before the shooting. But police provided no other information Sunday, including the name of the youth who died, saying the investigation was “active and ongoing.”
A hyper-local news Facebook account, That Camera Man’s Local Reports, quoted a Belle Harbor Circle resident who said he heard gunshots, looked outside his window and saw an Amazon truck driver yelling for someone to call 911. The resident saw what he believed to be several teenagers running away.
Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is asked to please contact Detective Elmore at 925-252-4875.
