Police ID Oakland woman killed on violent January day

OAKLAND — Police here have identified a woman who was shot and killed on Jan. 6, the same day another man was killed and a third survived a headshot wound in two other unrelated shootings.

Larissa Oliver, 22, of Oakland, was shot at around 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 6, near Seminary Avenue and San Leandro Street in East Oakland. She may have been visiting someone at a nearby homeless encampment when she was shot in a parked car, police said.

Oliver was with a friend, who attempted lifesaving measures and then drove her to a nearby fire station. From there, Oliver was transported to a hospital and died a short time later, authorities said.

Police have not announced any arrests nor said if they’ve identified the motive for the shooting.

Roughly two hours later, a 46-year-old man was shot and killed inside a West Oakland corner store on Linden Street. His name has not been released, and police have said his killing was unrelated. Then, in a third unrelated shooting at around 10 p.m., a 25-year-old Dublin man survived a graze bullet wound to the head near Lake Merritt, police said.
