Police seek man identified as a suspect in Valley Village killing

Police asked for the public’s help Wednesday in locating a man suspected of killing another man inside a Valley Village apartment.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded around 2:30 p.m. Saturday to the 12600 block of Riverside Drive, west of Whitsett Avenue, for a welfare check, according to the LAPD.

Inside the residence, officers found a man unresponsive, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced him the scene, police said.

The victim was identified Wednesday by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office as Menashe Hidra, 53.

Police said the suspect unlawfully entered the apartment, prompting a physical altercation that led to the victim’s death.

Detectives released a photo of the suspect in hopes of identifying and locating him.

The man was described as Latino, between 30 and 40 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 180 to 200 pounds, with black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored jacket, a white shirt and blue jeans.
