Professional Women’s Hockey League stopping in Denver on “Takeover Tour”

The Professional Women’s Hockey League is stopping in Denver during its PWHL Takeover Tour next year.

The Montreal Victoire will take on the Minnesota Frost on Jan. 12 at Ball Arena. It will be the third stop on a nine-date tour featuring regular-season games played in neutral sites, the league announced Monday.

“Bringing PWHL games to fans across both countries is a natural next step as we continue building our audience,” PWHL senior vice president of business operations Amy Scheer said in a news release.

It’s a homecoming for Minnesota goaltender Nicole Hensley, a Lakewood native who is a fixture on the United States national team and a two-time Olympian. She helped the Americans win silver in 2022 and gold in 2018.

The tour, which runs from Jan. 5 to March 29, will also feature stops in Seattle; Vancouver; Quebec City; Buffalo, N.Y.; Raleigh, N.C.; Detroit and St. Louis. The location of the Feb. 16 game has yet to be announced. All six teams in the PWHL are participating.

The league, which launched in 2023, told the Associated Press in October that it may add two more franchises in the 2025-26 season. Denver was listed as one of the potential markets.

Tickets for the game will be available via presale on Thursday and to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets can be bought at thepwhl.com/tickets.
