PUPILS should be given military training to instil discipline, restore national pride and get them fitter, voters believe.
More than half told pollsters they want to see the Combined Cadet Force operate in more schools, with fewer than one in ten against.
The voluntary MoD scheme involves pupils being put through Armed Forces-style exercises, drills and trips.
Only 268 state schools offer the initiative against 221 private schools.
The New Britain Project, which ran the poll, said: “Britain’s young people need more than just lessons.
“They need pride, purpose, and real opportunities to lead.
“Cadets aren’t a silver bullet, but they are a practical, proven way to rebuild confidence and belonging in our schools.
“It’s time to make cadets a normal part of school life.
“Not just something for a lucky few.”
