Rams-Seahawks live updates: Russell Wilson’s two TD passes have Seattle in front

2nd Quarter

Seahawks miss FG: Seattle Coach Pete Carroll passed up a fourth-and-one gamble from the L.A. 30-yard line. The Seattle offense stayed on the field but never snapped the ball and the Seahawks called timeout after failing to draw the Rams offside. Kicker Jason Myerssent a 48-yard field goal attempt wide right. (Seahawks 14, Rams 6 with 1:34 left in the 2nd quarter)

Gurley loses fumble: The Rams had a promising drive going but Todd Gurley lost a fumble at the Seattle 17-yard line. It has been a frustrating night for the Rams. (Seahawks 14, Rams 6 with 5:25 left in the 2nd quarter)

Seattle adds to lead: Russell Wilson’s second touchdown pass of the night has upped the Seahawks’ lead to eight points, at 14-6. With Dante Fowler Jr. and Aaron Donald both on the Rams’ sideline momentarily, Wilson had a clean pocket and plenty of time to launch a strike down the field to rookie speedster D.K. Metcalf for a 40-yard touchdown. (Seahawks 14, Rams 6 with 8:08 left in the 2nd quarter)

Goff off target: Rams quarterback Jared Goff, after tying the single-game NFL record with 45 completions in Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers, is off to a two-for-eight passing start against the Seahawks. The Rams have managed only a pair of field goals and trail in the second quarter. Even with his 517-yard passing performance Sunday, Goff has had a disappointing season. “He’s missed more [open receivers] through four games than he may have missed all of last year,” Fox analyst Troy Aikman said earlier on the broadcast. 1st Quarter

Seahawks strike quickly for lead: The Seahawks, after losing a fumble and being forced to punt on their first two possessions, struck quickly for a touchdown on their third drive of the night. Russell Wilson moved out of the pocket to his left and threw a 13-yard scoring pass to wide receiver Tyler Lockett, who somehow managed to get his feet in bounds to make a superb catch in the back left corner of the end zone. Wilson had moved out of the pocket to his right on the previous play to find wide-open tight end Will Dissly for a 38-yard gain. (Seahawks 7, Rams 6 with 49 seconds left in the 1st quarter)

Gurley getting carries: Todd Gurley got six carries in the first nine minutes of this game, already one more than he had during the Rams’ loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He has 31 rushing yards and the Rams have the early lead in Seattle on a pair of field goals by kicker Greg Zuerlein. He connected from 32 yards after a Gurley-led drive stalled at the Seattle 14-yard line. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have done next to nothing so far on offense and have been unable to block the Rams’ Aaron Donald. (Rams 6, Seahawks 0 with 4:55 left in …read more
