Tracking the three starting rookie quarterbacks — the Bears’ Caleb Williams, the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels and the Broncos’ Bo Nix — in Week 2:
No. 1 overall pick: Bears QB Caleb Williams
Williams has the second-worst passer rating of any NFL starter (53) — now that Bryce Young has been benched — and probably the second-most bruises after the Texans pummeled him for seven sacks Sunday night. Williams went 23-for-37 for just 174 yards and two picks but took maybe a half-step forward after his season-opening dud. The Bears are averaging just 176.5 yards per game — a half-yard more than the woeful Panthers and 84 yards shy of 30th place.
No. 2 overall pick: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels
With 2:04 left and the game tied, Daniels marched the Commanders down the field, where they won the game on Austin Seibert’s seventh field goal of the game. Daniels went 23-for-29 for 226 yards and a 99.1 passer rating in the 21-18 win against the Giants; his 97.2 rating on the season ranks eighth in the league.
No. 12 overall pick: Broncos QB Bo Nix
Nix went 20-for-35 for 246 yards, two interceptions and a 55.2 passer rating and lost a 13-6 pillow fight to the Steelers. He had the best quote of any quarterback this week when asked to describe an interception he threw in the end zone: “Dropped back, threw it to the other team.” Nix’s passer rating of 51 this season is the worst of any NFL starter. He’s the only rookie starter yet to win a game.
The Bears dealt Fields to the Steelers in March for a sixth-round pick that can become a fourth-rounder if the quarterback plays more than half the snaps for his new team.

It was a mixed bag for Williams, who needs to focus on footwork and sound decisions this week against the Colts.
