Report: Fire set to sign Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski

The Fire have reportedly landed the world’s most famous Polish soccer player.

International soccer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Sunday that the Fire are signing forward Robert Lewandowski. The captain of the Polish national team, Lewandowski, 37, last played for Spanish powerhouse Barcelona. After starting his professional career in Poland, Lewandowski also suited up for German titans Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, winning the 2020 Champions League with Bayern.

A Fire spokesman confirmed they are in talks with Lewandowski, but said no contract has been signed or agreed to.

A prolific striker, Lewandowski has made 167 appearances for the Polish national team, scoring 89 times.

Off the field, Lewandowski has become an icon of European and Polish soccer. Born in Warsaw, Lewandowski has 38.8 million Instagram followers and 3.2 million on X. That celebrity would be another boost to the Fire, who are set to open McDonald’s Park in 2028 and entered the World Cup break third in the Eastern Conference with an 8-4-2 record.

Lewandowski’s arrival would be the latest big-name signing for MLS. Since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023, the league has added Thomas Muller in Vancouver and Son Heung-Min for Los Angeles FC, both in 2025.
