The Timberwolves are 25-30 on the season, 12th place in the Western Conference. The trail the Clippers by five games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, so Monday is a huge game for Minnesota.
In 51 games this season for the Timberwolves, Wiggins is averaging 17.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest. The former No. 1 overall pick is shooting just 39.6 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.
As was the case last season, Wiggins has been a huge disappointment and the fans in Minnesota are starting to lose their patience. Wiggins has been booed a few times this season at home. The swingman signed a lucrative five-year, $147.7 million maximum contract extension with Minnesota in the summer of 2017 and hasn’t improved his game since then.
The good news for the Timberwolves is that Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague will play versus the Clippers. Teague has been dealing with a left ankle issue, while Rose is suffering from right ankle soreness. If Minnesota wants to make a playoff push, Monday’s game against the Clippers is pretty much a must-win game for them.
