CONCORD — Investigators found one person dead and three others injured Monday at a property in the unincorporated part of the city, authorities said.
The discovery happened about 8:05 a.m. after deputies from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check in the 5100 block of Laurel Drive, the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Once there, they found a resident dead, and three other injured people who were rushed via ambulance to a hospital.
Authorities did not identify the victim immediately, citing the investigation. The homicide investigation is the third one in Concord this year; the other two were led by Concord police.
The sheriff’s office said they had “no outstanding suspects” and that there was no threat to the public. They did not say whether they took anyone into custody. They also did not say whether any of the three other people who were hospitalized were considered suspects.
The incident is believed to have begun as a domestic issue. That family dispute escalated into an altercation, the sheriff’s office said.
No other information was available immediately. The sheriff’s office asked anyone who might have information to contact them at tips@so.cccounty.us or by calling 925-313-2600 or 866-846-3592.
