Rosemont police say they have found no evidence to back up actress Tara Reid’s claim that she was drugged at a hotel bar late last month, leading her to be hospitalized.
Police said in a statement Wednesday said that, while an investigation remains ongoing, video surveillance from the DoubleTree hotel bar on Nov. 23 does not show anyone tampering with her drink.
The actress had told TMZ she had gone to the bar to have a cigarette and drink and encountered YouTubers in the lobby. She went to smoke and returned to find a napkin over her glass, which she said she didn’t recall putting there, and later fell ill after having more of the drink and was hospitalized.
“While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” police said. “We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar which is standard practice for bartenders to do.”
Police said they conducted multiple interviews but have not obtained hospital records that may confirm chemical testing of Reid.
“We are working with Tara Reid to receive those records which she has also not received. Pending those results or further information coming forward, our detectives will follow up on those leads accordingly,” the police department said.
