Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of organized retail thefts that targeted multiple businesses across San Francisco between April and July, police said Thursday.
SFPD launched an investigation June 10 after a retailer reported repeated thefts. They worked with Tenderloin Station officers, Daly City police and store staff, officers said.
Investigators identified suspects Samuel Shrimpton, 28, and Ryan Twedell, 33.
Police say the suspects are linked to 17 thefts totaling more than $15,000 in stolen merchandise from stores in neighborhoods including 16th, Fillmore, Powell, Market and Castro streets as well as in Point Lobos and San Bruno avenues.
Shrimpton was arrested July 1 and faces six counts of burglary, eight counts of grand theft, and five counts of organized retail theft.
Meanwhile, Twedell was arrested July 11 and faces nine counts of burglary, 11 counts of grand theft, 15 counts of organized retail theft, seven counts of petty theft and one count of vandalism.
The cases remain under active investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, beginning the message with “SFPD.”
