SAN JOSE — A 35-year-old man was arrested late last month on suspicion of making and selling illegal guns at a San Jose apartment complex, according to authorities.
Detectives launched an investigation after receiving a tip earlier this year about the alleged operation in the 4900 block of Cherry Avenue, San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay said in a news release Friday.
After identifying the suspect, detectives obtained warrants for his arrest and to search his residence, Garibay said, adding that he was taken into custody on June 26.
Garibay said detectives seized a cache of illegal firearm-related items, including multiple privately made guns, a pistol equipped with a silencer, ammunition, three 3D printers and more than 40 spools of filament commonly used in the production of firearms.
The man was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of manufacturing and possession of unserialized firearms, unlawful sale of firearms and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
