SAN JOSE — At least one police officer fired his gun at a man suspected of shooting outside a business and wounding a person late Sunday, police said.

Officers were called to the 4200 block of Senter Road around 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, according to a statement posted by San Jose police on social media.

Callers reported that one person was shot and that whoever was shooting was doing so actively, police said. When officers located the suspect, he was still armed, “resulting in at least one officer discharging their firearm,” police wrote in the statement.

According to police, the suspect suffered life-threatening wounds and was taken by an ambulance to a hospital. He also was placed into police custody, police said.

The person who had been shot when officers arrived also had life-threatening injuries, police said. That person was dropped off at a hospital.

Police remained at the scene past 6 a.m. Monday. No other information was available immediately.
