Saratoga gets set to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Saratoga is gearing up for a spirited March, and if the early buzz is any indication, the city is more than ready to shamrock and roll its way into spring.

The Saratoga Village Development Council is once again turning the Village into a St. Patty’s treasure hunt for kids on Saturday, March 14, 2-4 p.m. Children can scour the area for “magical green rocks,” each redeemable for real golden dollars. As the event organizers like to say, “It’s like finding gold at the end of the rainbow.” Young hunters can also expect pennies, treats and other surprises along the route—enough to keep the afternoon lively.

Adults have their own spots to celebrate wearing of the green. The Bank—long a St. Patty’s Day favorite—has entered a new era after three generations of ownership by the same family. Now under the care of Jeff and Julie Prince, the beloved local watering hole has been refreshed and renovated, drawing in both longtime regulars and newcomers.  It’s well worth a visit. www.thebanksaratoga.com

If you’re looking to continue the celebration, Many Friends Brewery, 11482 Big Basin, and the Heid Bar at The Inn at Saratoga, are also ready to welcome anyone wearing green.

House Family Vineyards is blending St. Patrick’s Day spirit with Girl Scout cookie season for its third annual cookie and wine tasting on Sunday, March 15. Guests can reserve a curated tasting flight paired with classic Girl Scout cookies, while Scouts greet visitors and offer boxes for sale.

House Family sweetens the deal with a $7 discount on bottle purchases when guests buy a $7 box of cookies. For those who enjoy a challenge, a blind tasting competition invites guests to identify three wines. Guess all three correctly and the usual $40 tasting fee is waived. www.housefamilyvineyards.com

Hakone Estate & Gardens will celebrate the Lunar New Year on Sunday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—a festive opportunity to enjoy one of Saratoga’s most treasured landmarks.  www.hakone.com

The Saratoga Foothill Club continues its public events series on March 1 at 4 p.m., when Lisa Mallette, executive artistic director of City Lights Theater Company in San Jose, will present her perspective on “The Art of Connection. Her company is known for productions that “engage, inspire and challenge audiences and artists alike.”  www.saratogafoothillclub.org

On March 11 at 7 p.m., the Saratoga Historical Foundation will host a free lecture by author Craig Harwood. His talk, “Bridget’s Gambit for Survival and Prosperity in the Gold Rush Era in California,” highlights Bridget Evoy and her daughters, who “broke glass ceilings in the fields of real estate and commerce” during the Gold Rush. www.saratogahistory.com

It’s coming up!  The 2026 Saratoga Rotary Art Show returns to West Valley College on May 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature fine art, live music, and food, wine and beer vendors. Proceeds benefit the Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation, which donates 100% of profits to education, the arts, healthcare and community support. www.saratogarotaryartshow.org

West Valley Community Services—one of the many groups supported by Rotary Art Show funds—will host Chefs of Compassion on March 27 at the Computer History Museum. The fundraiser supports the nonprofit’s food and rental assistance programs for residents of Saratoga and other West Valley communities. www.chefsofcompassion.org
