Search for missing teen prompts excavation at South Elgin home

Kane County authorities are performing a “forensic excavation” at a South Elgin home in an attempt to find a teenage girl who has been missing for a decade.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser said ground-penetrating radar scans at the residence in the 800 block of Revere Road revealed “anomalies” that detectives believe warranted further examination.

A portion of Revere Road is closed off.

South Elgin police and the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force are conducting the search.
