See all the Lord of the Rings movies in a historic downtown LA theater

OK, “Lord of the Rings” fans, get into training for this one.  On Sunday, Sept. 6, the Secret Movie Club has scheduled a full-day marathon of the three movies at the beautiful and historic Los Angeles Theatre in downtown L.A. So you not only get your fill of Tolkien, but also a chance to spend the day in this ornate 1930s movie palace, with one-hour intermissions between the showings to get some feeling back into your rear end and food in your stomach.

Here’s the schedule:

There will be live music, a food court and beverages, plus tours of backstage between screenings. The showings are scheduled to be on 35 mm prints in the original theatrical format, unless there’s a technical glitch.

Tickets for the entire day including the afterparty cost $65. It’s $45 to see the triple feature or $17 each for the individual films. They can be purchased on the Secret Movie Club website. secretmovieclub.com. Note that Sept. 6 is during Labor Day weekend.

Location: The Los Angeles Theater, 615 S. Broadway, Los Angeles. (Note that most of the Secret Movie Club showings are at the Million Dollar Theater, so be aware of the change in venue.)
