The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday traded forward Thomas Bordeleau to the New Jersey Devils for forward Shane Bowers.
Bordeleau, once viewed as a big part of the Sharks’ future after he was a second-round pick by the team in 2020, had 18 points in 44 career NHL games with San Jose. Bordeleau is a restricted free agent as he was given a qualifying offer by the Sharks on Monday.
Bowers, 25, had 17 points in 65 games with the AHL’s Utica Comets last season, and appeared in four games with the Devils.
Bowers, who was selected 28th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2017, has played 13 career NHL games, 12 with the Devils.
“We’re excited to add a former first-round pick in Shane to our organization,” Sharks general manager Mike Grier said in a statement. “He brings good size, strong skating and competes at both ends of the ice.”
