Six Flags Magic Mountain to demolish former steakhouse restaurant

Six Flags Magic Mountain will take a wrecking ball to a shuttered pizza place on Samurai Summit that was once home to a hilltop steakhouse when the Valencia amusement park first opened in the 1970s.

Six Flags Magic Mountain has filed a permit with Los Angeles County to demolish the Laughing Dragon Pizza Co. at the Valencia amusement park.

The pizza restaurant near the Ninja and the mothballed Superman: Escape from Krypton roller coasters on Samurai Summit at the top of Magic Mountain has been closed for nearly two decades.

Laughing Dragon briefly served Papa John’s pizza before closing in 2008.

The restaurant space continued to be used for special events and Fright Feast dining packages during the Halloween season.

The hilltop restaurant was originally home to the Four Winds steakhouse when Magic Mountain opened in 1971, according to pre-opening brochure for the park.

Magic Mountain has not announced what will replace Laughing Dragon or any future plans for Samurai Summit.
