Aicha Coulibaly has new life.
The Sky rookie has been one of the team’s surprise bright spots this season, but she was closing in on her 12-game limit as a development player. Because the Sky had to rely on her early while injuries piled up, it was not clear how much longer she would be available.
Now, that question is gone.
The Sky signed Coulibaly to a rest-of-season contract, removing the limit on the number of games she can play. According to a league source, Coulibaly has been designated as the replacement player for forward Rickea Jackson, who is out for the season with a torn ACL. That gave the Sky a salary cap exception to sign her.
Coulibaly was the Sky’s second-round pick in 2025 at No. 22 overall, but she missed last season while rehabbing an ACL injury. She made a case for herself this season with her athleticism and defense.
She’s averaging 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 14.4 minutes.
The Sky now have one of their two development spots open.
