SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — An investigation into a report of human trafficking in South San Francisco ended Tuesday in the arrest of a 23-year-old San Francisco woman and the recovery of a 17-year-old girl from the East Coast, according to authorities.
The South San Francisco Police Department said it received a tip from a neighboring law enforcement agency that the teen was “likely being commercially sex trafficked” in the city. She had been reported missing and was considered at risk.
Detectives went undercover and responded to an online posting, which showed the victim and advertised sex services, police said. They were then directed to a hotel in the 1300 block of Veterans Boulevard, where they ultimately recovered the teen.
The suspect was also found at the hotel, police said, adding that she was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and other charges related to pimping and pandering.
She is being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on $250,000 bail, according to jail records.
Police said the teen was taken into protective custody and provided with services and resources.
