Surfin’, a Beach Boys tribute band, had the crowd waxing nostalgic with hit songs like Surfin’ Safari on Sunday evening at Warner Park in Woodland Hills.
Concert-goers experienced the classic Beach Boys songs and harmonies — and even the look and attire of the band in their early to mid-1960s hit-making days — as the tribute band’s promise to give audiences a re-creation of a Beach Boys concert.
Valley Cultural Foundation, celebrating its 50th year, presents free concerts on Sundays through Aug. 24 at the Nora Ross Bandshell at Warner Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., in Warner Center.
Emerging artist Millie Oliver and the Missing Pieces settled attendees into a music groove around 5:30 p.m. before the headliner band Surfin’ took the stage. The foundation’s Emerging Artists Showcase program has helped to introduce the public to up-and-coming musical talents at Concerts at Warner Park for many years.
Concerts are free but bring your own blanket or low-back chair for seating. A VIP chair ($20) can be purchased on concert days or opt for a VIP chair and paid parking combination ($35, must be purchased in advance).

Bring a picnic dinner or purchase items from food trucks or local restaurant vendors before the concerts.
