Surveillance video captured a burglary crew ransacking a luxury consignment store this weekend in northwest suburban Barrington.
The footage, which was posted to social media, shows at least six people wearing masks and black clothing as they stuff designer merchandise into bags around 5 a.m. at Restyle Design, 121 S. Cook St.
The burglary lasted just over a minute and left the store in disarray, the video shows.
Nearby residents called 911 and said they heard men yelling outside and saw cars speeding away, police said. Responding officers said the front door had been forced open.
The store’s website lists a range of high-end items, including a Louis Vuitton bag priced at nearly $4,000 and a Chanel ring that costs $650. The total value of the items stolen has not yet been determined, police said.
“Early this morning, our store was burglarized and nearly all of our inventory was stolen, years of hard work and trust gone in seconds,” the store wrote in a statement on social media. “We are devastated, but we are not giving up.”
Representatives for the store wouldn’t comment further.
