Suspect, officer injured in north Aurora police shooting

A suspect and an Aurora Police Department officer were injured in a shooting in a parking lot near Denver International Airport on Monday night, officials said.

Officers were responding to a report of a suspicious person in the 19900 block of East 56th Avenue about 5:30 p.m. when the shooting happened, the agency said in a post on X.

The person shot by police and one officer were taken to the hospital. The officer had minor injuries, and Aurora police did not say the condition of the person who was shot.

The area is just north of Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood and near a privately owned parking lot for the airport.
