Tarzana man suspected of stabbing mother’s boyfriend, 81, to death

A Tarzana man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his mother’s 81-year-old boyfriend to death on Wednesday, June 3, after police received a 911 call from someone saying they “killed the man of sin,” authorities said.

Michael Gledhill, 44, flagged down officers and told them he was the one they were looking for, shortly after police found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest in the front yard of a residence in the 19200 block of Erwin Street, Los Angeles police said.

James Handy was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Gledhill lives at the Erwin Street residence with his mother, police said.

In the 911 call, the caller, according to authorities, said, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”

Gledhill was arrested on suspicion of murder and was being held at the Van Nuys Jail on $2 million bail, police said.
