Teller County brush fire prompts pre-evacuation warnings near Divide, Florissant

A brush fire burning in Teller County prompted pre-evacuation warnings for people living between Florissant and Divide on Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The pre-evacuation warning includes the Highland Lakes subdivision and people living north of U.S. 24 between Cougar Canyon Point and Lower Twin Rocks Road, sheriff’s officials said in alerts posted just before 4:30 p.m.

The fire is burning north of U.S. 24 halfway between Florissant and Divide, according to the sheriff’s office. Additional information about the size of the fire was not immediately available.
