Thandiwe Newton’s former Topanga home lists for $4.2M, two years after it sold

A newly renovated Topanga Canyon home previously owned by award-winning actress Thandiwe Newton just hit the market for $4.195 million.

Located on a cul-de-sac in the wooded Fernwood neighborhood, this rustic compound changed hands in January 2023 for $2.75 million. It spans 3,033 square feet with four bedrooms, five bathrooms and a great room anchored by a 20-foot rock fireplace built by late master stonemason Jack Rice.

Newton, the 51-year-old known for starring roles in “Beloved” (1998), “Crash” (2004) and the HBO series “Westworld” (2016-2022) for which she won an Emmy in 2018, isn’t the only celebrity with ties to the property. Her estranged husband, “Ticket to Paradise” screenwriter and director Ol Parker and husband and wife actors Jonathan Cake of The CW’s “Stargirl” and Julianne Nicholson of HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” have also called it home.

Completed in 1975, the house makes the most of its third-acre-plus lot.

There are multiple decks and outdoor dining areas, including just outside the wet bar and lounge.

Stairs lead to an office loft above the kitchen.

A brick fireplace warms the primary suite, which opens to a deck, while an art studio adds to the offering.

A year-plus renovation includes systems and structural upgrades, timber restoration and interior redesign, the listing reads.  Outdoor amenities include a new natural plunge pool, outdoor shower, built-in Finnish sauna and spa.
