What is an AMG GLC? The AMG GLC is a compact luxury high performance SUV built in the Bremen, Germany assembly plant and sold worldwide by Mercedes Benz. The AMG nameplate is the high performance subsidiary of Mercedes Benz and is known for creating performance oriented vehicles, with enhanced engines, sporty handling, and unique styling. This 63 S E SUV is a plug in hybrid model with an electric motor and a gas engine that makes 671 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque combined. That’s more then enough power to make your drive to work a fun, fast and furious one every day.

This AMG 63 model has a handcrafted 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder gas turbo engine with a permanently excited synchronous electric motor, bolted to an AMG Speed Shift 9 speed automatic transmission, running into an AMG performance 4Matic all wheel drive (AWD) traction control system. Plus, it has AMG ride control with an active damping suspension and 2.5 degree rear axle steering controlled by an AMG high performance computer.

And then who is AMG? AMG is the performance division of Mercedes Benz, responsible for developing and producing high performance versions of Mercedes Benz models. What does AMG stand for? The name AMG stands for the surnames of the company’s founders: Hans Werner Aufrecht, Erhard Melcher and the town where their workshop was located; Großaspach, Germany. AMG was founded in 1967. What does it do? AMG engineers and designs high performance vehicles, focusing on enhanced engines, tuned suspensions and exclusive design elements for cars & SUV’s.

The key features of AMG vehicles include the following:

Powerful engines: AMG vehicles feature more powerful engines than their standard Mercedes Benz counterparts.

Tuned suspension and handling: AMG models are known for their sporty handling and responsive driving dynamics.

Unique styling: AMG vehicles feature distinct exterior and interior styling elements, including aggressive front bumpers, wider wheel arches and exclusive interior materials.

One Man, One Engine: AMG engines are hand built by a single craftsman, a tradition that emphasizes quality and craftsmanship.

History: AMG started as an independent engineering firm specializing in performance improvements for Mercedes Benz vehicles, eventually becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes Benz AG.

Officially, the collaboration with AMG and Mercedes began in 1990 before Daimler Benz took a controlling stake of the company in 1999, leading to AMG versions of almost every Mercedes model. The C 36 AMG of 1993 was the first AMG car to be developed by both AMG and Mercedes Benz and they have never looked back.
