The Score executive producer Shane Riordan no longer at the station

Shane Riordan, The Score’s executive producer of the “Spiegel & Holmes” show, posted on X that he’s no longer at the station. His dismissal, which happened Monday, wasn’t related to a behavioral issue or anything he said on the air, the Sun-Times has learned.

Neither Riordan nor The Score returned requests for comment.

During the transition between the just-announced “Rahimi & Harris” midday show and the afternoon show, Matt Spiegel said, “The station and Shane Riordan decided to part ways. It’s a lot to process. Just wanted to acknowledge our listeners, our friends in the mob and such. I’m gonna comment on it tomorrow. Here at the station, today is about Leila and Marshall and [Mark] Grote twice a week being announced, and we’re happy for them.”

Riordan has been in the news before. In May 2023, The Score took him off what was then the “Parkins & Spiegel” show for four days after he made lewd remarks on the air.

In response to Fox Sports’ Jason McIntyre saying Chicago is “like a war zone right now; it’s like Afghanistan,” Riordan told McIntyre on Twitter to “keep Chicago out of your [expletive] mouth.”

That tweet led WIND morning host Dan Proft, who agreed with McIntyre, to bad-mouth Riordan and The Score on the air and on Twitter.

Riordan then played a clip of Proft’s diatribe, in which he demeaned Riordan, his colleagues and the Chicago press corps at large. Riordan responded with his own demeaning remarks toward Proft while defending Chicago’s reputation.

No one had crossed a line until Riordan said, “Dan, I’ll have sex with your mother. Dan Proft, you bring your mother over here, I’ll [have sex with] her. I don’t care, dude.” Proft’s mother, Carol, died in August 2014.

Riordan had been with The Score since March 2017, when he began a two-year run as the executive producer of the Cubs Radio Network. He became a full-time executive producer in February 2021.
