TheatreWorks’ 55th season features new works, old favorites

Before TheatreWorks Silicon Valley raises the curtain on its 55th season, audiences can get a sneak peek at a new work by the writers of the hit musical the company is staging next spring.

TheatreWorks’ 22nd annual New Works Festival will include a reading of a new musical by award-winning team Irene Sankoff and David Hein, whose “Come From Away” closes the season next April and May. Festival dates are in July and August.
The season, announced on April 14, opens with the world premiere of Lauren Gunderson’s adaptation of “Little Women.” Sept. 24-Oct. 12 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts’ mainstage.

Audiences can celebrate another “Christmas at Pemberley” with Gunderson and Margot Melcon’s take on Georgiana Darcy and Kitty Bennet, two characters from Jane Austen’s oeuvre. Dec. 3-28 at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.

After a run of shows in which he portrayed various composers, pianist/playwright/performer Hershey Felder returns to TheatreWorks to play himself in the world premiere of “The Piano and Me.” Jan. 17-Feb. 8, 2026 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts’ mainstage.

“Primary Trust” by Eboni Booth follows Kenneth, a 38-year-old bookstore clerk who must suddenly deal with unemployment and challenges he has long evaded, which leads him to reconnect with the world around him. March 4-29 at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto.

“Come From Away” tells the true story of 7,000 passengers stranded in a small town in Newfoundland after the 9/11 attacks. The musical will be directed by TheatreWorks Artistic Director Emeritus Robert Kelley. April 15-May 10, 2026 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts’ mainstage.
