An estimated $20,000 of perfume was stolen from Macy’s in Northridge during a smash-and-grab robbery on Sunday, police said.
The robbery occurred around 11:08 a.m. at the store on the 9301 block of Tampa Avenue in Northridge Fashion Center. Video on social media shows at least two men wearing hoodies and face masks scooping boxes of packaged luxury perfume bottles, including Giorgio Armani, into black trash bags. Shards of broken glass can be seen under the display cases.
Based on witness accounts, police are searching for five to six male suspects who fled in a black Infinity without a license plate. The suspects reportedly used hammers and bodily force to commit the robbery, said Los Angeles Police Public Information Officer Tony Im. No injuries were reported.
The smash-and-grab is one of the many flash mob robberies in Los Angeles County and the surrounding areas that have occurred since early July of this year.
